Thinking Christian Resources (from Pastor Lovelace)
As promised you will find below a beginning list of resources to go deeper in Thinking as Christians for the glory of God:
My favorite resource for the past 14 years is Mars Hill Audio Journal. This is a Mp3 journal that is subscriber based, but you can sample at their site (www.marshillaudio.org). The Journal covers everything from books, music, film, the academy to news and so much more. It gives you good insight into many issues which you are able to then go deeper. Ken Myers is the editor of the journal and he was an NPR editor in the late 80′s until the early 90′s. Therefore, the journal has a very NPR like format, but with deep Christian reflection.
The rest of my list are authors who have deeply stimulated my views and thoughts on many subjects. This is not exhaustive, but these authors are well worth the time:
James Davidson Hunter - To Change The World
Oz Guiness
Alasdair MacIntyre
Francis Schaeffer
CS Lewis - The Weight of Glory and other Essays
Christine Pohl - Making Room: Recovering Hospitality
Alan Jacobs
Roger Lundin - There Before Us
Wendall Berry - The Way of Ignorance
Gordon Fee - Paul, The Spirit, and The People of God
These are just a few, but I warn you these authors will make you think. As I stated in my sermon, I don’t always read those I agree with so you will find things you like and some you don’t.
