Letter from Pastor Erik

In times of transition, we hope in the gospel. In this letter Pastor Erik answers questions he has been asked in regards to his role during the transitions that Redeemer Montclair is facing in the coming months.

Missions Team Update

This past December, Redeemer Montclair made a year-end gift to World Vision to demonstrate God’s love by helping to meet practical needs of those living in poverty throughout the world. The Children’s Ministry classes and the Youth Group were invited to participate in this project to decide how the gift should be distributed. The youth of the church decided to give the following gifts: a year of school for three orphans, a sheep, six chickens, a goat, and medicine.  A special thanks to all the children/youth for partnering with the Missions Team on this project.

Women’s Conference

A women’s conference will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church in Randolph, NJ on March 10 from 9AM to 2:30PM. The cost is $15.  Space is limited so register early. Registration deadline is March 2. For more information, please contact Devin Almonte at devinalmonte@gmail.com.

January 22 – Feb 26: Officer Nominations

There will be an Officer Nomination period from January 22 through February 26.  We will receive nominations for Deacons and Deaconesses. All those who nominate must be members. All nominees must be members over the age of 18.  Please ask those you wish to nominate prior to submitting their names.  Nomination forms and brief outlines and requirements for these leadership roles will be available in the foyer and on the website.

Children’s Ministry Director Transition

Andy and Katie Culp have decided to step down from the role of directing the Children’s Ministry in anticipation of welcoming their third child into their home soon. We thank the Culps for the dedication and care they have shown over this past year in this role. Devin Almonte will serve as the new Children’s Ministry Director.  Devin has extensive experience with children, familiarity with the Redeemer Kids program as the Nursery Supervisor, and a track record of leadership and management experience. The Culps will be working with Devin over the next several weeks to ensure that the transition is seamless. Please welcome Devin to this role.

First Choice Baby Bottle Boomerang

We’re excited to participate in First Choice’s Baby Bottle Boomerang. Please take a bottle home this Sunday and fill it with your spare change. Return your filled bottle of coins to the church foyer over the next several weeks. Please remember to pray for First Choice Women’s Resource Center. Handyman Team

The Deacons are seeking volunteers for a “handyman” team (including women: “handyperson” is awkward) to be available to perform maintenance and repairs jobs on the church property on an as-needed basis. Please see Brad Burns and Ming Chang, or email them at deacons@redeemermontclair.com, if you are interested in serving the church in this way.

Sunday Serving Opportunities

Please consider joining one of the teams that support the ministries of Worship and Fellowship on Sunday morning. Volunteers are needed to serve once a month on the hospitality, usher and audio teams. We want to clarify the different ways you receive emails from Redeemer:

Redeemer News: Weekly announcements sent by the church office usually Friday afternoon to all congregants. Congregants are automatically added to this list when their name is added to the master directory. Occasionally, the church office will send special announcements to the congregation from admin@redeemermontclair.com account.
E-Prayer: Sent out by Beth Hastings to a subset of the congregation who requested to join the prayer team. Congregants must contact Beth to be added to the distribution at beth.hastings@verizon.net.
Redeemer Montclair Online: This online community is a subset of the congregation who requested to join. Congregants must contact Donna Short to be added to the online community at donna0129@gmail.com.
